Deep tissue massage assists in injury prevention and rehabilitation.

Massage strokes are slower, the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain. This allows the deeper sub layers of muscle fibres and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles) to be attended to.

The primary goal for deep tissue massage is to restore a balanced upright posture, decrease symptoms of pain, break down scar tissue/muscle adhesions and improve your range of motion. It is a massage technique that works on the deeper layers of muscle tissue.

If you suffer from musculoskeletal imbalances or issues with joint mobility, I would perform an analysis of your posture and may test your range of movement (ROM) to get a better understanding of which muscles may be contributing to the issue at hand.
